News and Announcements:

This page is for news updates for the Fisher-Price Collectors Club.

Collectors, check this page for updates about our toy sale, summer convention, Gabby Goose Newsletter, and any other toy news going on!

April 8, 2013: NEW! Happy to say, the club is working on the details of the upcoming summer convention - the dates are definitely set for July 26 - July 27, 2013! Watch this page as more details come available, and club members will be getting more info in the next newsletter.

April 7, 2013: NEW! If anyone has a young daughter ages 3 - 6 who likes picture books, there is a new one just published that has a small connection to a classic Fisher-Price toy! In the book Emeraldalicious by Victoria Kann, the main character is a young girl who finds her favorite woods has been turned into a garbage dump. With some magic, she reuses many of the items in new ways to promote the idea of recycling. If you look closely in the background when she is surrounded by garbage, there is a classic Fisher-Price chatter phone! The phone appears on 3 different pages. Takes some eagle eyes to see the chatter phone among the garbage, but there it is! Nice to see a chatter phone get a little recognition in the year 2013!

February 19, 2013: Collectors, check your mailboxes! The most recent copy of the Gabby Goose Newsletter was mailed out!

January 22, 2013: NEW! The Convention 2013 Page is now online! The dates are scheduled for July 26-27, 2013. Some things aren't yet set in stone, so watch this page for details as they come! We hope to have our social hour, show and sale! This will be the 20th anniversary of the Fisher-Price Collectors Club!

October 29, 2012: FINALLY! Got a whole bunch of photos from the 2012 Convention, plus lots of info about what went on! Click here to see the photos!

September 12, 2012: I updated the Toy Sale Page for 2013. The club hopes to have a sale again next July, so watch this site for details! Still working on getting photos up from the Convention - soon!

July 29, 2012: Convention 2012 was great! A HUGE thanks to everyone who helped out and made our sale and dinner possible! After we all recover, chat is resuming on Tuesday nights at 9:00 (check for the link in the newsletter Gabby Goose). Still got to get photos up!

July 26, 2012: Convention 2012 is here! See you all in East Aurora!

July 25, 2012: Collectors, check your mailboxes quick! Jacquie and Diane pulled it off - they finished publishing the Gabby Goose and and got it mailed out in time for the convention!

July 18, 2012: For any club members coming to the convention: Click here if you need to print the map and schedule of events. I just updated it for 2012, yeah!

July 12, 2012: For any club members coming to the dinner that have not mailed back your reservations, mail them to Jacquie right away so we know how many are coming! I am also adding some more photos to the slideshow on the Home Page, trying to get more content on there!

July 6, 2012: I updated the Toy Sale Page - The Toy sale is on Saturday July 28th, in East Aurora NY, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church on Pine Street. Map included on that page. Also, club members - return your convention invitations/dues soon so we can do a head count!

June 22, 2012: In mid June, Jacquie mailed out the invitations to the Convention 2012 dinner, plus dues for next year. Check your mailboxes - hopefully yours came by now! We need to know soon how many club members are attending the dinner since we have a minimum number to meet! We're having prime rib, you know ......!

June 14, 2012: Convention 2012 is only 6 weeks away! Jacquie will be mailing out the dinner reservations and dues soon. I also been trying to update the site with a new look, which is testing my limited web skills to the max here!

May 23, 2012: Collectors, check your mailboxes (I mean your real mailboxes, not the one with your #2500 Fisher-Price Main Street set) - Gabby Goose newsletter was mailed out! We are looking for some more club members to write articles - check the last page of the Gabby Goose for more details.

April 24, 2012: Convention 2012 is set for Friday July 27 and Saturday July 28, 2012! There is one main difference from prior years - the dinner is going to be on Friday night instead of Saturday. Check the Convention 2012 for details as they come. Start making your plans!

February 25, 2012: Fisher-Price toys were featured in the December 14th, 2011 edition of the magazine Antique Trader recently. It mentions the Top 10 Fisher-Price toys to collect, with 1936's Pushcart Pete having a value in the $9000 range. Wow, wished I owned something on that list! The article is written by Bruce Fox, who wrote the popular Fisher-Price Toys Guide Book. To see the article, click here!. (Hope the links works; it may not work forever!).

January, 2012: Yeah! A new replica toy has been released. This one is the Fisher-Price Changeable Picture Disk Camera #112. The original one was made from around the late 1960's until around 1972. The original camera had discs sold with it, that you would place in the camera to view scenes. I personally never had this camera growing up, and never came across one in all my time in rummage and yard sales, so I am quite curious about it! Not sure what stores are selling the replica, but I see it being sold online in various places. Check it out!

December 5, 2011: Collectors, check your mailboxes! The Fall issue of the Gabby Goose was mailed out. Lots of fun stuff - Ted writes more about the wind-up music boxes; we recount the events of the 2011 summer convention; the "Getting To Know You" article is about our youngest member ever (at 6 years old!); plus more! Sit on down and enjoy!

November 11, 2011: For those who enjoy decorating for Christmas, remember to stop by a Hallmark Store and look for the new Fisher-Price ornaments. This year, there is the red Music Box Teaching Clock, and the Play Family House (the yellow/blue one). The attention to detail is amazing, and the quality is awesome! There is also an ornament based on Snoopy Snifer called "Snoop 'N Sniff", which was released in limited quantites and will be harder to find. So go out there and get your ornaments, because you may wind up buying them at super expensive prices later on Ebay if you don't (just look at what the Barn ornament sells for - yikes!).

September 16, 2011: Everyone recovered from Convention 2011 yet? Got all of your new toys displayed? Hope so! Also Chat is continuing on Tuesday nights at 9:00 pm Eastern Time - drop by and chat, or just leave a message! The password and link to the Chatzy site is listed in the last issue of the Gabby Goose.

July 31, 2011: Convention 2011 was held on August 29-30 in East Aurora and we had a great time!! The sale went really well, and the dinner was fun as always! We met some new members as well as saw many of our regulars. Thanks to everyone who helped out - hope to get photos and details up on the site soon!

July 22, 2011: For any club members who need a map to see where the dinner and sale are, Click here!

July 22, 2011: The Toy Sale is all set for Saturday July 30, 2011 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at 43 Pine Street, East Aurora. The sale will be smaller than in previous years, since some regulars can't make it this year. But like always, it should be lots of fun with plenty of interesting toys!

July 18, 2011: Collectors, check your mailboxes! The Summer issue of the Gabby Goose was mailed out - should be arriving around now. All the Convention 2011 information is in there; plus Ted F. has an article; also some new members share their stories; plus much more! Hope everyone is getting ready for next week's sale and dinner!

June 19, 2011: Club Members, check your mailboxes! Jacquie mailed out 2011 Convention information and dues for next year. Send back whether you are coming to the dinner and how many people, so we know how many tables to set! Also included are raffle tickets to send back (hey someone not present won last year!). The events this year are: A Social Hour at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (43 Pine Street) at 3:00 on Friday July 29th; The Toy Sale at the church on Saturday July 30th from 9:00 to 2:30ish; the dinner (be there by 6:30!) at the Village Kitchen Cafe on Saturday night. Ted F. is speaking this year (which will make you want to beef up your wind-up toy collection!). Join us for the fun! Click here to see the Convention 2011 webpage.

June 10, 2011: I added a new PDF membership application on the Join The Club page. Yeah trying to modernize a bit!

May 2011: Collectors, mark your calendars! The 2011 Convention is set for Saturday, July 30 in East Aurora NY, the home of Fisher-Price! If everything continues to fall into place, we will once again have our Toy Show and Sale at the Immanuel Lutheran Church on Pine Street (from roughly 9:30 to 2:30ish). Our annual dinner is set for that evening at the Village Kitchen Cafe on Riley Street, just like in previous years. You will be getting invitations in the mail with more information. Start making your plans! Click here to see the webpage for the 2011 Convention.

March 2011: The Late Winter/Spring edition of the Gabby Goose was mailed out - everyone check your mailboxes! Also we have a day set for our get-together for the summer of 2011 - Saturday July 30th in East Aurora, NY! We hope to have a sale again, plus our dinner. More details to come!

January 2011: Finally got up a bunch of photos of our July 2010 convention - Check it out!. Also I put up a page for the 2011 convention. So when plans start coming together, information can be found there. The Weekly chat sessions (Tuesdays at 9:00) are going on - the link is in the Gabby Goose newsletter.

Mid September, 2010: Collectors, check your mailboxes! It's that time of year - the Fall edition of the Gabby Goose was mailed out, filled with fun photos from our annual convention in July! We are also discussing starting a Facebook page - more info coming on that later.

August 3, 2010: What a great weekend!! The Annual Toy Show and Sale (July 24th) went really well, and the dinner was fun as always, too! I'll be getting details and photos up soon!

July 16, 2010: For any club members who need a map to see where the dinner and sale are, Click here!

July 2, 2010: Hey Club Members! Our plans for our 2010 Get-Together are set for July 24, 2010! There will be a Toy Sale, as well as the annual dinner. Jacquie mailed out the reservations for the club dinner - send back your RSVP soon so we know if we will have enough people for a buffet, or just order off the menu! The Toy Show and Sale is also set on July 24th from 9:00 to 3:00, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at 43 Pine Street, East Aurora NY. Also mailed out were membership info and dues for next year - send those back to Jacquie!

May 11, 2010: We are starting to make plans for the summer get-together for the club - a new webpage for information can be found here. We are working on having a Toy Show and Sale, but we'll probably do a meal (luncheon or dinner) for sure. Watch this website for more info as it comes!

Early May, 2010: The Gabby Goose was mailed out - Collectors check your mailboxes!

February 2010: While snowed in during a blizzard, I was bored so I tried to add a slideshow of some favorite toys - hope my web skills are good enough to make this work! (slideshow at the top of the home page).

Early December 2009: Collectors, check your mailboxes! The Winter issue of the Gabby Goose was mailed out in early December. Many thanks as always to Diane and Jacquie for all their work in putting it together!

August 29, 2009: Our luncheon was on Saturday August 29th, and we had a great time! Quite a few of us were able to attend, and it was great seeing everyone this year. Hope to get up a webpage about what we did.

August 2009: The Summer issue of the Gabby Goose was mailed out! For anyone going to the August 29th Luncheon that needs East Aurora info and directions, Click here for an updated map for 2009.

July 2009: CLUB MEMBERS - PLEASE READ! Collectors, check your mailboxes! Club renewal forms were mailed out at the end of July. Also included is information about attending our annual get-together. This year it's pretty simply - a luncheon on Saturday August 29th at 1:00 pm at the Village Kitchen Cafe in East Aurora NY. We will order off the menu. We will also be doing the annual raffle, plus giving out the Caring and Sharing Award. Club Members, send back your forms to Jacquie by August 15th, so we know who's coming and how many people to include in the reservations! Click here for more info.

June 2009: Sad news to report - The Fisher-Price Collectors Club will not be having an Antique Toy Show and Sale this year. Like the two frowning Little People shown here, we aren't happy about it, but alas there were many reasons for this decision.

May 2009: More sad news to report - the Toytown Museum on Girard Steet in East Aurora has closed, and it appears this is permanent. They may be looking for another location, but it remains to be seen what happens next. A huge loss to toy collectors everywhere.

May 2009: The Spring Gabby Goose newsletter was mailed - collectors, check your mailboxes!

March 2009: Good news!! In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Little People, Fisher-Price has produced 4 new commemorative toys, in a retro style in remembrance of the classic Little People. They are called the "Little People Play 'n Go", and the 4 new toys are a house, fire station, farm, and school house. The new toys have a base made of light-weight plastic and tin, with plastic Little People and some accessories. Sadly the Little People figures are large and chunky, but alas, that's how things are made in current times for safety reasons. Nice to see the vintage Little People being remembered today!

December 2008: The Winter Gabby Goose Newsletter was mailed out - check it out!

August 2008: Our annual convention was held over the weekend of August 22-24, 2008, in East Aurora NY. Click here to see photos! It was a fun time for all!
